The Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) commissioned the construction of new, state-of-the-art Pesticide and Microbiology Laboratories. A critical component of outfitting these specialized facilities was the installation of a high-performance flooring system. Problem Statement
Standard concrete floors are porous, susceptible to damage from chemical spills, and can harbor microbial growth, making them unsuitable for sensitive laboratory environments. The new Pesticide and Microbiology Labs at the GSA required a flooring solution that could provide a seamless, non-porous surface capable of withstanding aggressive chemicals and frequent cleaning protocols. The floor needed to support a sterile environment and comply with regulatory standards for facilities of this nature.
Solution
To address these requirements, the project team selected and applied Carboline Sanitile 945 SL, a 100% solids, high-performance epoxy coating. This product was chosen for its key attributes:

- Chemical Resistance: Specially formulated to withstand aggressive chemicals commonly found in laboratory settings.
- Durability: As a neat, aggregate-filled, or reinforced system, it provides a robust and long-lasting surface for high-traffic areas.
- Compliance: The coating is acceptable for use in USDA-inspected facilities, ensuring it meets stringent regulatory and hygiene standards.
