Preventing Fuel Pipeline Corrosion with STOPAQ Wrappingband CZH and Outerwrap

Introduction

A major oil and gas company in Ghana faced significant corrosion problems with its fuel pipeline due to exposure to moisture, humidity, pollutants, acid/sulphur content in the transported fuel, and temperature and pressure fluctuations. To address this issue, the company turned to Vulcan Holdings Limited (VHL), known for its expertise in corrosion prevention. VHL leveraged our STOPAQ Wrappingband CZH and Outerwrap to offer a complete solution for preventing pipeline corrosion and ensuring its long-term integrity.

Problem Statement

The fuel pipeline at the oil and gas company was severely corroded due to constant exposure to moisture, soil contaminants, and temperature fluctuations. This corrosion compromised the pipeline’s structural integrity, increasing the risk of leaks and failures, which could lead to environmental contamination and financial losses. It also affected fuel transportation efficiency, causing operational delays and higher costs. Frequent maintenance and repairs further disrupted operations. These challenges highlighted the urgent need for a reliable corrosion protection solution to ensure the pipeline’s long-term functionality and efficiency.

Solution

We used our STOPAQ Wrappingband CZH and Outerwrap for long-lasting protection to address the severe corrosion of the fuel pipeline. We began this process by preparing the pipeline surface to remove rust and contaminants to ensure proper adhesion. STOPAQ Wrappingband CZH was then applied for its strong adhesive properties and self-healing, visco-elastic protection that sealed minor damages. Finally, STOPAQ Outerwrap was added to provide a durable, UV-resistant, and waterproof barrier, enhancing the overall corrosion protection of the pipeline.

Outcome
